"Best [niche] apps" searches up 3,000-4,500% — niche categories are where attention is going
Searches for 'best travel apps for planning', 'best sleep tracking apps', 'best language exchange apps' and similar are up thousands of percent year-on-year, pointing to growing demand in specific app categories.

A run of “best [category] apps” searches are all showing very large year-on-year increases:
- “Best travel apps for planning” — up around 4,150%
- “Best language exchange apps” — up around 4,050%
- “Best road trip apps” — up around 3,700%
- “Best sleep tracking apps” — up around 3,400%
- “Best photo collage apps” — up around 3,200%
Alongside these, app management searches are also climbing sharply — “how to change app permissions” (+4,500%), “how to stop app tracking” (+4,400%), “how to stop apps from crashing” (+4,300%). People are using more apps, in more specific categories, and paying more attention to how those apps behave.
For app builders, the signal is twofold: there’s growing user appetite for well-targeted, niche apps (travel planning, sleep, language learning, road trips) rather than broad do-everything apps — and users are increasingly attentive to permissions, tracking and reliability, which makes a clean, trustworthy app experience a genuine differentiator.
If you’re building in one of these niches, see our iOS & Android page for how we approach native app builds.
