Anthropic shipped a broad Claude Code update this month: a fullscreen diff panel for reviewing changes, larger inline command and task output limits, smoother prompt and session handling, broader headless and desktop commands, and new policy and skill diagnostics for enterprise deployments. None of these are headline-grabbing on their own. Together, they point at where the AI coding agent market is actually heading.
The diff panel is the tell
A dedicated, fullscreen view for reviewing what an AI agent changed exists because reviewing agent-written code has become the bottleneck, not writing it. When a tool can restructure a dozen files in one pass, “read the diff carefully” stops being optional and starts being the main way a human stays in control of what ships. Search interest around “review AI generated code” and “AI coding agent diff” has been climbing all year for the same reason — teams that adopted these tools early are now building review discipline around them, not just prompting discipline.
Why the diagnostics matter more for buyers than for developers
The policy and skill diagnostics addition is aimed squarely at organisations running Claude Code across a team, not at solo developers. That’s consistent with a pattern across every major AI coding tool this year: the product surface is expanding from “help me write this function” to “let an organisation govern, audit and standardise how dozens of people use an agent.” If you’re commissioning software and your delivery partner’s tooling doesn’t have equivalent controls, that’s worth asking about.
