Claude Code overtakes Copilot as developers' favourite AI coding tool
Recent surveys show Claude Code has the highest developer satisfaction of any AI coding assistant, less than a year after launch.

Recent developer surveys put Claude Code well ahead of GitHub Copilot and Cursor on satisfaction, less than a year after its release. OpenAI’s Codex has also seen rapid growth over the same period, with weekly active users tripling in a few months.
For teams choosing tools, the signal is less about any single product and more about the shift itself: agentic coding assistants — tools that can plan, write, test and refactor across a codebase, not just autocomplete a line — are now mainstream.
We use Claude Code and Codex as part of our day-to-day workflow. More on how that fits into our delivery process is on our AI-assisted development page.
