A $15M bet that AI-written code needs AI-powered testing, not more developers reading diffs

Meticulous, a London-founded AI-powered software testing company, announced a $15 million Series A on 15 July, led by Chemistry, with Menlo Ventures and individual investors from Cursor, Vercel, OpenAI, Stripe and Adobe among the backers. The product records real application interactions during development, then uses AI to automatically generate and maintain end-to-end UI tests — catching regressions down to a single pixel across thousands of user flows, without an engineer writing test code by hand.
The line from LaunchDarkly’s Director of Engineering, quoted in Meticulous’s own announcement, is the useful part: “code generation is relatively inexpensive, but code review and the feedback loop become the bottleneck.” That’s a different claim to the “can we trust AI-written code” surveys we’ve covered before — this is top-tier investors, including individuals from the AI labs building the coding tools themselves, putting real capital specifically behind the verification layer. It’s a signal that the constraint in AI-assisted delivery has visibly moved: not “can AI write this feature,” but “can anyone confirm it still works correctly once it has.”
